Gurinder Chadha is an English film director born in Kenya, best known for the hit films Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice. Quirky comedies, most of her films also address many social and emotional issues, explore the lives of Indian women living in England and how they must reconcile their converging traditional and modern cultures. Her upcoming film is the British-Indian historical drama Viceroy’s House, starring Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson, about the true story of the final months of British rule in India.
