Harvey Weinstein is an American film producer and film studio executive. He is best known as co-founder of Miramax with his brother Bob, naming the company after their parents, Miriam and Max. Miramax produced some of the most critically acclaimed and commercially successful independent feature films, including The Aviator, Chicago, Gangs of New York, Chocolat, Shakespeare In Love, Life Is Beautiful, Good Will Hunting, The English Patient, Pulp Fiction and The Piano. Following the success of Miramax Films, the pair co-founded the multimedia and distribution company The Weinstein Company (TWC) in 2005. Since its creation, TWC has released dozens of Oscar-nominated films such as The King’s Speech, Silver Linings Playbook and Lion.
